How Meet Again works
Sometimes a stranger really gets you. You talk for an hour, the chat ends, and you wish you could say "how did it go?" a few days later.
Meet Again lets two people find each other again, without accounts, names or phone numbers. Only if you both want it, and only when you are both here.
- In a chat, both tap Meet again. If only you tap, nobody knows.
- When you are both on Zuzu, Zuzu asks you both. Two yeses, and a new chat starts.
- Keep up to 3 people, with a short note. The note stays on your phone.
- It fades after 30 days without meeting. Let go anytime, quietly.
Why I built this
I got several emails from Zuzu users with the same feedback: after a heartwarming chat with a kind soul, there was no way to find them again.
So I got to work. I brainstormed eleven ways to solve it without accounts, while keeping Zuzu private and frictionless, and asked some of you what would really work for you. After a lot of thought, this is what I built.

See it happen: Emma and Leo
- A good chat: Emma came to vent about her exams. Leo chose to listen. On Zuzu they only see random names: she is Golden Fern, he is Quiet River. - Emma taps 🤝: Once both have written something, a Meet again button shows at the top of the chat. Emma taps it. Only she can see that she did. - Leo taps 🤝 too: The moment the second person taps, both see it. Leo could also tap up to 10 minutes after the chat. If he never taps, Emma's tap is simply forgotten. Emma's phone: You'll meet again 🤝 Zuzu will let you both know when you're here at the same time.. Leo's phone: You'll meet again 🤝 Zuzu will let you both know when you're here at the same time..
- A note to remember: Each adds a short note, so they know who is who later. The note stays on their own phone. Zuzu never sees it, and neither does the other person. - Three days later, at Chat Hour: Both open Zuzu, and neither is in a chat. Zuzu asks them both at the same moment, each with their own note. Emma's phone: 🌻 kind exam-night listener is here. Meet again / Not now. Leo's phone: 🌻 exam stress, Sunday is here. Meet again / Not now.
- Both say yes: Both tap Meet again within a minute, and a new chat opens. Their random names are new today, but the note tells each of them who this is. Emma's phone: You found each other again 🤝 · Hey! How did the exam go? · I passed!! 🎉 thank you for Sunday. Leo's phone: You found each other again 🤝 · Hey! How did the exam go? · I passed!! 🎉 thank you for Sunday.
What if...
- Only one taps: Nothing happens, and nobody is told. The tap is forgotten 10 minutes after the chat.
- Not now: If either taps Not now, or does not answer within a minute, the other only sees the card close. It is not offered again for 12 hours.
- 3 spots full: You can keep up to 3 people. If all 3 are taken when you tap 🤝, Zuzu shows your list. Let one go, and your tap goes through. Nobody is ever replaced on their own.
- 30 days pass: Each time you meet again, the 30 days start over. If you do not meet for 30 days, it fades away quietly.
- Letting go: Tap 🤝 and choose Let go, anytime. It ends for both of you. The other person is not told. It just leaves their list.
- Something feels wrong: Report and Block in the ••• menu work as always. Either one ends the Meet Again for good, and it can never be made again.
- One of you is busy: If either of you is already in a chat, Zuzu waits. It never tells anyone that the other person is busy.
- A new phone: Meet Again lives in this browser. On a new phone, another browser, or after clearing site data, it starts fresh. Nothing follows you.
What is kept, and where
Zuzu's server (only if you both tap)
- A scrambled code for each browser
- The day you met, and the day you last met again

- Whether you vented or listened

- Names, numbers or emails

- Who tapped, and who did not

Good to know
- Meet Again chats have the same safety tools as any chat: Report, Block, blurred photos and free helplines.
- Keep it anonymous, even with someone you trust here. Do not share your number, socials or where you live.
- Not now is always okay. Nobody is told, and you never owe anyone a chat.
- Zuzu is peer support, not therapy. If you find yourself leaning on one person a lot, that is human. A counsellor or a free helpline can be there more steadily.
Best time to meet again: Chat Hour. Twice a day, for 60 minutes, more people are here at the same time. Turn on a reminder there, and you are more likely to find each other.
Questions people ask
Can the other person see that I tapped?
No. They only find out if they tap too, and then you both see it at the same moment. A tap on its own is forgotten 10 minutes after the chat.
Why do I not see the Meet again button?
The Meet again button shows in chats with a person, once you have both written something. It is not in chats with the AI Companion. You can still tap it for 10 minutes after the chat ends.
Does Zuzu know who we are?
No. Zuzu keeps a scrambled code for each browser and two dates. No names, numbers, notes or messages. That is all it needs to know you are both here.
Can I meet them on another phone?
No. Meet Again is saved in the browser where you tapped. A new phone or a cleared browser starts fresh.
